Enjoy a laid-back luxury stay at Foxhill Manor with hosts dedicated to making you feel right
at home and a gifted chef at your beck and call.
Adjacent to Broadway, one of the most beautiful villages in the UK, and set within the 400-acre Farncombe Estate you will find Foxhill Manor, your home away from home (if home happens to be a golden tone, Grade II listed manor). And that is because at Foxhill Manor everything revolves around YOU. Their ‘whatever you fancy, whenever you fancy’ motto invites you to help yourself to cake and cocktails in the elegant Drawing Room, and snacks from the Pantry anytime you’d like. The kitchen is open all day and guests are encouraged to pop in and chat with chef whenever they’re hungry. Unlike traditional hotels there are no set meal times at Foxhill Manor, there aren’t even menus! For dinner the chef will ask what you like and give you a couple of ideas for what he’s cooking, tailor-making a meal to fit your tastes.
Upon arriving at this lovely boutique hotel you can expect to be greeted with a glass of champagne and given a tour of the aristocratic country manor. During this time you will be told more about the house and its fantastic facilities, including five bedrooms and three suites, a cozy bar and lounge, a wine cellar with something for every palette, a cinema room where you can even order in, and a ballroom. You also have full use of the luxurious spa at nearby Dormy House. Sophisticated neutral colour schemes are brought to life with splashes of bright colour and printed textiles. Bathrooms come with freestanding rolltop baths, some with views over the Vale of Evesham and out towards the Welsh Black Mountains. There is interior inspiration everywhere you turn, window seats filled with plush cushions, inspiring artwork and even wool blankets for chillier days. Everything is put together perfectly and makes you feel like a true English Lord or Lady.
As you take in all the majestic scenery, it will not take long for you to learn that there is a huge emphasis on never being hungry at any point. The Drawing Room plays host to daily help-yourself cakes and drinks, and if you get peckish in between the Pantry acts as a luxury tuck shop for grown-ups.Located on the landing and open all the time with mini candy bags for filling, all sorts of snacks and a fridge filled with bottles of Peroni, beers, soft drinks and fizzy fruit cordials. But don’t worry if nothing there tickles your fancy, there is a little peckish button that you can press anytime you please summoning a call from the chef asking what you’d like! Maybe a board of savory olives, flavored nuts and freshly made cheese straws?
In the kitchen, the chef is always ready to prepare you the meal of your dreams using fresh, local ingredients and making magic with the finest foods that the Cotswolds has to offer. Delectable carpaccio, creamy soufflé, rich duck eggs and savory Thai sea bass are just a few of the options that may be given to you. Many highly recommend the pheasant wellington, seasoned pheasant breasts seared with clarified butter and sautéed with shallots, garlic and mushrooms, then topped with chopped herbs, cheese and walnuts. The venison with slow-cooked bacon is another big hit that really hits the right salty and umami notes.
Not only are you eating like royalty, but your four-legged friend will be too, as dogs are not only welcome at the Manor but catered to as well. After romping the beautiful country grounds and enjoying a long nap in a cozy dog bed, they can choose from the Dogs Dinner menu specially created with Cotswold Raw.
There is also an impressive wine cellar that is yours for the plundering, and hosts are on hand to help you pick the perfect wine to go with your personalized meal. The wine selection covers everything from everyday crowd pleasers to splash out, once-in-a-lifetime vintages.
If in the evening you are still craving a nibble you can enjoy the sunset on the terrace and canapés of razor clam tartare with yuzu gel, truffle and cep custard with Parmesan sable, and bite-sized chunks of fennel-crusted lamb fillet.
In between all that eating you can relax and watch a film in the media room on comfy bean bags, or if you are feeling a bit stuffed there are miles of walking areas to explore. You’ll find a gate at the bottom of the garden leading to walking trails across the Estate, up to Broadway Tower or down to the town. You’ll never run out of cute villages to visit. The spa at Dormy House has a gym, pools and amazing treatments, including a lovely Repose Facial that leaves your skin glowing.
Before checking out in the morning you must indulge in a scrumptious breakfast of local eggs, smoked salmon and fresh avocado, granola and yogurt, and poached rhubarb.
Foxhill Manor truly is a must-visit, but be warned. There is a possibility nothing else will compare after your indulgent stay!
